  1. I really like how you used the center piece of your post as a book and built your writing around it. I thought your summary was excellent, very bland and chronological. I felt like I had read the back of the book by reading your it. The analysis I felt was good but could be a little more specific. You definitely went more in depth by giving the deeper essence of what the book is about, but I did not feel a strong opinion from it. I think that is the biggest distinguishable quality between an analysis and a summary. Other than that I really enjoyed your post.

  2. Hi Tracy,
Just wanted to say I liked the way you presented this blog post. Its very cute. Anyways you make it very apparent what the difference is between a summary and an analysis through your definitions. Your book seems very interesting which I could assume after reading your example summary and analysis.
    Thanks

  3. Tracy,

I think you made a great choice in using glogster to create an e-poster. I am not clear what the image of the baby is supposed to symbolize but it seems to fit. I think it important to realize that analysis also entails forming an argument about the text. Also, when contrasting summary and analysis, one must understand that the summary should be brief and only relate to points pertaining to the argument. The example you provided for the summary is effective and to the point. In addition, the example of analysis is insightful and demonstrates critical evaluation. I interpreted your choice of a background as a spider-web. Perhaps this symbolizes the manner in which summary and analysis are woven together to express one's thesis. Great job.

  4. Okay, the baby staring at me is freaking me out. That is a kung-fu stare if I've ever seen one...

I enjoyed the artwork, and I think you nailed the simplicity of summary and analysis. The analysis example was spot on, but the summary example started out wrong. You mentioned "this is a great book," and that comment belongs in the analysis. As I've mentioned in my own blog, it is sometimes difficult to be objective in a summary, but infusing opinion into a summation, such as "this book stinks," may not accurately represent the work, but it DOES accurately represent our own perceptions.

  5. Tracy--- What a beautiful job on this blog post for Summary and Analysis. Your post makes me want to find the book you read so I can enjoy it in its entirety. I have always enjoyed learning about the life of the Amish. I understand that is a small space to completely analyze a whole book here for the assignment blog, however I think you do a great job of creating interest. I believe one of the objectives of an analysis paper is to point the reader to the source. You nailed it, keep up the great work.

  6. I thoroughly enjoyed your post. The colors, pictures, and layout was an eye catcher. Great job on defining summary and analysis. Simple and to the point. I agree with you on both of the definitions you provided. Thanks for sharing a little tidbit of the book you just read. I believe my daughter has read this book and I will definitely be borrowing it.

    Super job!

  8. This books looks very interesting. I first read your analysis and then your summary, which threw me off at first. I had to go back and read the analysis. I really like how you took that from the book and turned it about their relationship and love. I will have to read it sometime!
